jpnn.com - JAKARTA – The movement of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) followers in Indonesia has been monitored by the National Police. As of today, an estimated 300 Indonesians have joined the militant group.

“There are about 300 people recorded by name,” the Chief of National Police General Badrodin Haiti stated on Friday, November 27.

He confirmed that dossiers on ISIS in Indonesia have been acquired for some time, not only on followers who have left the country or returned home. He even said, some of them have been involved in some legal problem. “Some people have died there (Iraq and Syria),” the former Chief of East Java Regional Police said.

He added, the National Police is still monitoring the followers who are still in the country. It is not conducted only by the police elite squad, Densus 88, but also by all regional police in Indonesia.

“They, who have just arrived from Syria, could be dangerous or presumed otherwise. It depends. They could always changed,” he said. He also said that the Police can not categorize them. One thing for sure, everyone should keep an eye on them. The community they live in should also be aware. “They could always change their mind,” he affirmed.

So, does the National Police detect any terrorism activities by Indonesians who have been to Syria? The Chief of National Police confirmed that there are none from Indonesians. “There were activities by foreigners. If I am not mistaken, there were seven perpetrators, four of them have been arrested, and three are still pursued,” he said.  (boy/apa/jpnn)
