Kepala Kelompok Riset Epidemiologi Klinis di Flinders University, Dr Ashley Hopkins, menyambut baik keputusan untuk membatalkan pendaftaran 'pholcodine', dengan mengatakan hal ini berdasarkan pada bukti ilmiah yang kuat.

"Reaksi ini dapat terjadi bahkan pada pasien yang tidak memiliki riwayat alergi terhadap obat lain," kata Dr Ashley.

"Sebagai profesional di bidang perawatan kesehatan, perhatian utama kami adalah keselamatan dan kesejahteraan pasien, dan mengeluarkan obat yang menimbulkan risiko signifikan adalah langkah yang diperlukan untuk memastikan keselamatan pasien tetap terjaga."
