Indonesian Naval Fleet Chases Away Chinese Intruding Ship in Natuna Islands
jpnn.com - The Indonesian Military’s naval fleet stands firm in defense around Natuna Islands. International boundary of Economic Exclusive Zone (EEZ) was also safely guarded.
The Indonesian Navy’s Western Fleet Command chief, Rear Adm. A. Taufiq, said that a Chinese ship recently violated EEZ areas. As a spontaneous response, demonstrating its resolve to protect the Indonesia’s sovereignty, the navy chased it away.
“The owner of the ship was also made to apologize. Indeed, we are focusing on Natuna’s territory, there was a Chinese ship came in through our EEZ. As it violated our territory, we chased it away and they apologized,” Taufiq said as quoted by JawaPos.com on Monday November 23.
The EEZ area is currently under scrutiny especially after the Chinese claim over Indonesian maritime around Natuna Islands into their map territories. Taufiq also revealed that other than Natuna’s territory, the Indonesian military also focuses on crimes in Malaka Strait, which is considered as the most crime-ridden area in the world.
